ECIJA Ecuador launches tool on large-scale data processing
As part of its commitment to legal innovation and strengthening regulatory compliance, ECIJA GPA launchesits Large Scale Processing Calculator, a free tool designed to support organisations in the correct application of the Organic Law on Personal Data Protection (LOPDP) and the Resolution SPDP-SPD-2026-0005-R (MTGE).
The tool has been developed by the Personal Data Protection team, in conjunction with ECIJA GPA's LegalTech area, as part of an initiative aimed at facilitating compliance decision-making through practical and accessible solutions.
This interactive calculator allows, in a few minutes, to assess whether a personal data processing can be considered large scale, based on regulatory criteria such as the number of data subjects, the volume and type of data processed, the frequency, the permanence of the processing and its geographical scope. The result is presented in a clear and easy-to-interpret way, supporting risk management and prioritisation of actions within privacy programmes.
The tool is aimed primarily at Legal, Compliance, Technology and Data Protection teams, especially in processes of implementing the Register of Processing Activities (RAT) and strengthening internal controls.
The Large Scale Processing Calculator is part of ECIJA GPA's data protection tools hub, which also includes resources such as a sanctions calculator, a Data Protection Officer (DPO) diagnostic and other solutions focused on the effective implementation of the regulation.
With this initiative, ECIJA GPA reaffirms its focus on the development of solutions that integrate legal knowledge, technology and practical applicability, accompanying its clients in the compliance and responsible governance of personal data in Ecuador.
