ISDE 2026 strengthens the legal and sports debate with the participation of Écija

The seventh edition of the ISDE Sports Convention turns Madrid into the international centre of sport and its legal ecosystem.

Madrid has once again been the focal point of the international legal and sports debate with the hosting of the ISDE Sports Convention 2026, a leading forum that has brought together institutional leaders, legal experts, and representatives of the world's major sports organizations to analyze the challenges that will shape the future of the sector.

In this context, ECIJA was represented at the conference by Cristina Villasante, reinforcing the position of the firm in one of the most significant environments for the evolution of sports law worldwide.

In a landscape profoundly transformed by digitalization and technology, issues such as audiovisual piracy, the role of artificial intelligence, and the international expansion of leagues like the NFL and NBA were at the centre of the main discussions. During the event, the president of LALIGA, Javier Tebas, warned of the regulatory delay in Europe regarding piracy and emphasized the need to promote technological development to ensure the competitiveness of the sector.

The conference also highlighted Madrid's growing importance as an international sports hub, with strategic projects such as the arrival of Formula 1 at the IFEMA urban circuit and the consolidation of global events like NFL games at the Santiago Bernabéu. This positioning reinforces Spain's role as a key market in the global sports industry.

Furthermore, ISC 2026 addressed current legal issues, such as the most significant cases from the Court of Arbitration for Sport (CAS), new competition models and their regulatory implications, and the evolution of sponsorship as a structural element of professional sport.

In this context, ECIJA is consolidating its position as a leading firm in legal advice for the sports industry, combining solid regulatory knowledge with its specialization in digital law, technology, and innovation. Cristina Villasante's participation in this forum reinforces the firm's commitment to being present in the forums where the future of the sector is defined.
