ECIJA Mexico, among the Best Firms in Intellectual Property, Environment, ESG, and Technology by Legal 500

Article published by Líderes Mexicanos Magazine.

The British directory has positioned ECIJA in a total of 45 categories in its new edition for Latin America

Legal 500, one of the leading international legal directories, has recently published its 2024 edition for Latin America, placing ECIJA Mexico in 3 outstanding practice areas: environment, intellectual property, and technology, media, and telecommunications (TMT). Additionally, the directory mentions Ricardo Chacón, Joaquín Rodríguez, Kaynicté Pérez, Mike Margáin, Berenice Sagaón, Carlos del Razo, and Georgina García as distinguished lawyers in their respective practices. Internationally, ECIJA adds up to a total of 45 notable categories in Latin America, thus improving the results obtained in previous editions.

Regarding Mexico, the directory places ECIJA in the “Firms to Watch” category in Environment, a special mention that recognizes the best emerging firms or practices in the legal market. Furthermore, ECIJA's practice has obtained a special recognition in the 'Green Guide' of the same ranking, which highlights firms for their excellence in the field of ESG (Environmental, Social, and Governance) and Green Change. In this regard, the ranking highlights that Carlos Del Razo is “an exceptional lawyer,” with “great experience in the sector,” and whose “vision and advice are very practical.” The Environmental team is noted for having “actively participated in notable mandates, including assistance to a mining operation in Chihuahua with modifications to its existing environmental impact authorizations.”

Moreover, as Legal 500 points out, “the firm's long specialization in TMT matters gives it an additional edge in digital law issues, and its IP client base overlaps considerably with the digital technology space.” In this sense, in both technology and media areas, as well as in intellectual property, clients have highlighted: “ECIJA is an exceptional firm in service delivery. Its lawyers anticipate legal developments and address them from a practical vision applied to the business.” Client feedback also supports that the “response speed” at ECIJA is unique, as well as the “great teamwork, with deep technical knowledge and collaboration among lawyers and partners.”

For Ricardo Chacón, Managing Partner of ECIJA Mexico: “These recognitions underline the firm commitment we have established in the fields of environment, intellectual property, technology, and media in Mexico. They also revalidate the path followed by the Firm in these domains globally. In this upward trajectory, ECIJA aspires to cement its position as an undisputed reference in digital law, not only in Mexico but also throughout Latin America.”

For over 30 years, Legal 500 has been analyzing the capabilities of law firms around the world, with an annual research program to provide the most up-to-date view of the global legal market. In this way, the directory assesses the strengths of law firms in more than 150 jurisdictions, highlighting practice area teams that provide the most cutting-edge and innovative advice to corporate legal advisors.
